Riley Cutner-Orrantia, Ulrick Matsunaga Honored by the SD Metro
CGS3 Attorneys Named Among San Diego’s Top 40 Under 40 Professionals
Riley Cutner-Orrantia and Ulrick Matsunaga, attorneys at Crosbie Gliner Schiffman Southard & Swanson (CGS3), have been named among San Diego’s “Top 40 Under 40” for 2025 by SD Metro. This 26th annual tribute honors San Diego’s top young professionals; a feature highlighting all the honorees was published recently in the May issue of SD Metro, a longtime San Diego business magazine.
Emerging as an expert in complex luxury retail leasing and development deals. Mrs. Cutner-Orrantia focuses her practice on transactional work. Along with representing developers and investors in all phases of the commercial real estate cycle, her skills include the ability to negotiate renewable energy transactions.
Prior to joining CGS3 in January of 2022, she cultivated her legal and deal management skills in a variety of real estate, renewable energy, and P-3 infrastructure projects as an associate in the Denver office of Kaplan Kirsch & Rockwell LLP, a boutique law firm with a nationwide practice. She has also worked as an associate real estate broker and was a student attorney with Colorado Law Sustainable Community Development Clinic.
In addition to the law, she is recognized in the environmental arena and has worked as a summer law clerk for Earthjustice and was the managing editor of the Colorado Natural Resources, Energy and Environmental Law Review. She holds a B.S. degree in environmental science from UCLA and a J.D. from the University of Colorado.
Mr. Matsunaga is a core member of the firm’s entity formation and tax practice. With over a decade of sophisticated corporate experience, he has a background in both consulting and operations, enabling him to deliver an effective blend of strategic and tactical advice in the complex world of commercial real estate and tax law. Prior to joining CGS3, He was a senior operations leader for Sonder Holdings, Inc., a publicly traded hospitality company. Prior to joining Sonder, he worked for Deloitte Consulting, climbing the ranks from business analyst to manager.
He holds a J.D. from USD School of Law and earned a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Labor Relations from Cornell University. An active member of NAIOP San Diego, he is also a volunteer and patron of the Oceanside Museum of Art and a wildlife champion of San Diego Wildlife Alliance.
