CGS3 Contributes to Diversity Scholarship Fund
SAN DIEGO (June 20, 2022) – In honor of Juneteenth – celebrated June 19 to commemorate the end of slavery in the confederate states – Crosbie Gliner Schiffman Southard & Swanson LLP (CGS3), has contributed to the University of San Diego’s (USD’s) Advancing Black Leadership and Scholarship Fund
This annual student scholarship, inspired by the Black Lives Matter movement and created to affirmatively support law students of color, will be awarded to a continuing student who exhibits leadership qualities in the USD School of Law community.
Specifically, the student scholarship fund was created to help support USD law students who have demonstrated commitment to:
- Equal access to justice and education for the Black population
- Lifting Black voices and raising issues affecting Black communities
- Fighting against racism, racial injustice, and prejudices
- Showing demonstrated leadership in and/or for the Black community on these issues in Black Law Students Association (BLSA) through internships/clinics/volunteer work, and/or in the broader community
“It is essential for all of us in the legal profession to recognize the critical importance of inclusivity in our profession and in our workplace,” said Sean Southard, a CGS3 founding partner. “We hope that by regularly contributing to scholarships and causes such as this one on behalf of all members of the CGS3 team, we can play a small part in affecting lasting change.”
