CGS3 partner and CFO recognized for strategic financial leadership and pivotal role in firm’s growth

SAN DIEGO (August 17, 2026) – Crosbie Gliner Schiffman Southard & Swanson LLP (CGS3) is proud to announce that partner and Chief Financial Officer Brian Kintz has been named a finalist in the San Diego Business Journal’s annual CFO of the Year Awards – which recognizes financial executives whose strategic leadership, financial expertise and operational impact help drive organizational success.

A founding team member of CGS3, Kintz has been instrumental in the firm’s growth and evolution since joining at its inception in 2013. Appointed CFO in 2019, he oversees the firm’s financial operations, including budgeting and reporting, accounting and tax functions, billing and financial personnel – also working closely with leadership across legal, human resources, technology and marketing to advance the firm’s broader business objectives.

“Kintz is a core member of our leadership team and an essential driver of CGS3’s strategic direction,” said Sean Southard, founding partner of CGS3. “His financial expertise, forward-thinking approach and collaborative leadership have been instrumental in building the infrastructure that has enabled our firm to grow while maintaining the culture and entrepreneurial spirit that set us apart. This recognition is a well-deserved reflection of the value Kintz brings to CGS3 every day.”

Kintz has helped guide CGS3 through a period of significant economic uncertainty, leading initiatives that contributed to record financial performance while positioning the firm for sustained growth. His responsibilities extend well beyond traditional financial management, including the development of alternative fee arrangements, competitive billing strategies, partner compensation models and practice-group initiatives designed to strengthen profitability while delivering greater value to clients.

“Kintz has played a critical role in virtually every stage of our growth,” Southard said. “He brings a sophisticated understanding of the business of law and has helped us make smart, disciplined decisions that benefit both our clients and our people. His contributions have been a significant factor in positioning CGS3 as one of California’s fastest-growing commercial real estate law firms.”

Beyond CGS3, Kintz is committed to giving back to the San Diego community. He currently serves as vice president and a member of the Board of Directors of the Children’s Dental Health Association of San Diego, which provides dental services and education to underserved children throughout the region.

The San Diego Business Journal’s CFO of the Year Awards recognize financial leaders who demonstrate excellence in financial management, strategic thinking, leadership and organizational impact. Kintz’s selection as a finalist underscores his significant contributions to CGS3 and his role in helping shape the firm’s continued success.
