What AB 3182 Means for Landowners and Common Interest Developments

California’s Legislature passed a series of new laws in 2020, including Assembly Bill 3182. The law adds a new section to the Davis-Stirling Act as Civil Code Section 4741, which encourages the creation of new housing by removing barriers for landowners. It lifts certain restrictions that barred rental or leasing of owner units and individual lots, and impacts regulations governing residential infill development.
