SAN DIEGO (May 20, 2026) – Crosbie Gliner Schiffman Southard & Swanson LLP (CGS3) attorney Ulrick Matsunaga has been selected as one of SD Metro’s 2026 Top 40 Under 40, a prestigious annual recognition celebrating San Diego’s most dynamic young professionals, innovators and civic leaders. Now in its 27th year, the program highlights individuals making an exceptional impact across business, industry and the community.

At CGS3, Ulrick has quickly distinguished himself as a rising force within the firm’s entity formation and tax practice, where he advises clients on sophisticated matters involving partnership tax structuring, entity design and complex commercial real estate transactions. Known for his sharp analytical skills and practical business mindset, he is frequently entrusted with high-stakes matters requiring both legal precision and strategic insight.

Ulrick is also a founding member of the firm’s sustainability and renewable energy practice group, where he counsels clients on innovative financing tools and incentives, including Commercial Property Assessed Clean Energy (C-PACE) financing and tax credit opportunities that support environmentally responsible development.

“Ulrick is an exceptional talent whose intellect, judgment and work ethic set him apart,” said Sean Southard, founding partner of CGS3. “He has an uncommon ability to solve highly complex challenges while keeping clients focused on their broader business goals. Ulrick represents the next generation of legal leadership, and we are thrilled to see him recognized by SD Metro.”

Before entering the legal profession, Ulrick built more than a decade of corporate experience, giving him a unique perspective that blends legal acumen with operational and business strategy. That background allows him to deliver thoughtful, commercially grounded counsel to clients navigating today’s evolving marketplace.

Beyond his practice, Ulrick is deeply engaged in the community. He serves as a Professor of Federal Estate and Gift Taxation at the University of San Diego (USD) School of Law, is an active member of NAIOP San Diego, supports the Oceanside Museum of Art, and is a wildlife champion for the San Diego Wildlife Alliance.
