CGS3 Partner recognized by Local Business Publication

SAN DIEGO Crosbie Gliner Schiffman Southard & Swanson (CGS3) partner and chief financial officer Brian Kintz has been recognized as a finalist in the San Diego Business Journal’s Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of the Year Award.

Each year, the San Diego Business Journal recognizes the financial experts who work behind the scenes to help companies succeed, spotlighting both finalists and winners.

As the first successor to CGS3’s founding CFO Ray Gliner, Brian was named CGS3’s chief financial officer in 2019.  In this capacity, he masterfully controls CGS3 finances by coordinating the firm’s internal and external accounting and tax teams, preparing and reviewing annual budgets and monthly financial statements, managing collection and billing processes, and overseeing internal and external billing personnel.  He also serves on the firm’s management, partnership selection and compensation committees.

Kintz has helped CGS3 achieve record financial earnings during a volatile economic cycle – leading the firm in pivoting to a remote working environment within days of the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.  He also led the firm in negotiating a lease extension of its San Diego headquarters and plays a critical role in the recruitment of top legal talent from around Southern California.

Brian works closely with the firm’s management committee, general counsel, and other officers including the chief human resources officer, the chief technology officer, and the chief marketing and business development officer.

According to CGS3 founding partner Sean Southard, Brian’s leadership has been critical to the firm’s strategic direction and succession planning. Since helping launch the firm in 2013, he has spearheaded the growth of CGS3 from 5 to 29 employees while expanding practice areas to include a litigation practice, construction/development practice, distressed real estate workouts and entity formation and tax.

“Brian was part of the original cast of CGS3, branching out from his former “Big Law” firm where he had just made equity partner to help launch our firm.  It was a leap of faith – but he was committed to creating a new law firm that is “Different by Design” and defined by an ability to deliver a best-in-class client experience underscored by responsiveness, pragmatism, efficiency and professional temperament,” Southard said. “A core part of our leadership team, he is well deserving of this accolade and instrumental in maintaining the firm’s competitive edge through forward-thinking solutions that are vital to the firm’s financial and operational success.”
